ShareBuggy FAQs
Childcare shouldn't feel like a leap of faith. Here's how ShareBuggy works, who it's for, and what's coming next.
The Basics
What is ShareBuggy?
ShareBuggy is the home base for in-home childcare. It's where your child's schedule, daily log, photos from the day, and messages with your caregiver all live in one place, instead of scattered across texts and sticky notes.
Who is ShareBuggy for?
Families who have someone else caring for their child at home. That could be a full-time nanny, a part-time sitter, a grandparent or relative on duty a few days a week, or a mix of all three. It's also for the caregivers themselves. Nannies get their own view, built for how the day actually runs.
What age is ShareBuggy built for?
Most of our families have infants through preschoolers, and the daily log is built around what matters most in those years: naps, bottles, meals, diapers, moods, and milestones. But nothing is locked to an age. The schedule, photos, messaging, and log all bend to whatever your day actually looks like, so plenty of families keep using ShareBuggy well past the toddler years.
Do I need a nanny to use ShareBuggy?
No. If a grandparent watches your child on Tuesdays, or you and your partner are trading off coverage, ShareBuggy works the same way. Anyone caring for your child can be added as a caregiver.
Is ShareBuggy available on my phone?
Yes. ShareBuggy works on iPhone and Android, plus the web.
What does it cost?
There’s a free version with the essentials, and Premium is $15 a month for the full set of features. No per-caregiver charges. Your nanny, your partner, and any family you add are all included. See the full comparison on our pricing page.
Does ShareBuggy handle payroll or taxes?
Not right now. ShareBuggy is focused on coordination and daily care.
What ShareBuggy Doesn't Do Yet
We'd rather tell you upfront than have you find out after signing up.
Can I add more than one child?
Not yet. Right now each account covers one child. Support for multiple children is in active development: different ages, different routines, one shared view.
Can I have more than one caregiver?
Not yet. This one is coming soon. Right now each account supports one caregiver alongside the parents. Support for multiple caregivers is in active development: nanny, weekend sitter, and grandma, each with their own days on the shared calendar.
Do you support nanny shares?
Not yet. If you're sharing a nanny with another family, ShareBuggy isn't built for that configuration today. It's coming, and our Family Match waitlist is the first step toward it.
Can my nanny use one account across two families?
Not yet, for the same reason. A caregiver can be part of one family's account at a time.
For Families
How do I get started?
Three steps: add your child, invite your caregiver, and build your week. Most families are set up in under ten minutes.
Who can I invite to my account?
Two roles come standard: your child's other parent, and your caregiver. Both get full access to the schedule, daily log, and messages. You can also add extended family (grandparents, an aunt, a godparent) with view-only access, so they can follow along and see photos without changing anything.
Who builds the schedule?
Either of you. The schedule can be built from both sides. Most parents build the week and let the caregiver work from it. Some prefer the caregiver to draft the week and send it over for approval. Both work.
What happens when the day goes sideways?
Push one thing back and everything after it shifts with it. A late nap doesn't mean rebuilding the afternoon by hand.
Can I see what's happening in real time?
Yes. Naps, meals, diapers, photos, and notes appear as your caregiver logs them. Open the app at 2pm and see where the day actually is. No check-in text required.
What if my caregiver isn't glued to their phone?
Good. They shouldn't be. Anything can be logged after the fact with the right time attached, so the record stays accurate even when the moment was busy.
What happens to my photos and logs?
They're yours. Everything stays in your account, organized by day, so you can look back at any point in your child's week, or year.
How is my child's information protected?
We take children’s privacy seriously and built ShareBuggy to meet children’s privacy standards, including COPPA. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
For Nannies & Caregivers
Do I need my own account?
Yes, and it's free. The family you work with sends you an invitation, and you set up your own login. Your account is yours. It isn't a shared family password.
Does ShareBuggy cost me anything?
No. The family pays. Caregivers never pay to use ShareBuggy.
Is this a monitoring app? Am I being tracked?
No. ShareBuggy doesn't track your location and doesn't watch you work. It's a place to log the day (naps, meals, diapers, a photo from the park) so parents stop texting you for updates and you stop repeating the whole day at pickup.
What am I expected to log?
Whatever the family cares about, and no more. Most families want naps, feedings, diapers, and a couple of photos. Logging takes seconds, not minutes.
What if I forget to log something in the moment?
Add it later with the correct time. Nothing gets stamped wrong just because you had your hands full.
Can I build the schedule?
Yes. The schedule can be built from both sides. Some parents build the week themselves and you work from it; others ask their caregiver to draft the week and approve it. You'll know which setup you're in.
Do I need to be online all day?
No. Log what you can, when you can. The app isn't a clock you have to punch.
What happens to my account if the job ends?
Your account stays yours. Access to that family's information ends when the family removes you, and you keep your own profile for your next position.
Family Match
What is Family Match?
Family Match connects your family with other families nearby who are looking to share a nanny, matched on neighborhood, schedule, and how you each approach care.
Is Family Match available now?
Not yet. It opens in January 2027. The waitlist is live now, and families on it get access first, in the order they joined.
Does Family Match help me find a nanny?
No. Family Match is family-to-family only. We connect you with another family to share care with. Finding and hiring the nanny is still yours to do together.
Where would the care happen?
We recommend that share families alternate hosting: one family's home one week, the other's the next. It keeps the arrangement balanced and gives both children a familiar setting. That's why we ask on the waitlist whether you're open to hosting.
What do you ask when I join the waitlist?
Your neighborhood, the schedule you need, your child's age, and whether you're willing to host in your home. It takes about two minutes.
Do you screen or vet the families I'm matched with?
We surface compatible families based on what each family tells us. We don't run background checks, and matching isn't an endorsement. Meeting, referencing, and vetting each other is up to you, just as it would be with any family you met on your own.
Does Family Match cost extra?
Yes. There's a one-time fee when you join, separate from your monthly plan. If we don't find you a match, you get it back in full. You're paying for a match, not for a search. We'll share the exact amount closer to launch, and waitlist families will hear first.
When will it launch?
January 2027. Waitlist families get access first and depending on available and compatible matches.
